QB/WR combo

Postby giggman » Wed Aug 08, 2007 6:22 pm

I've heard thoughts both ways on this but I am still on the fence...I have the 5th pick in an upcoming 12 team Yahoo draft. Obviously a RB will be taken 1st...Should I take the next best RB (probably nobody special) when it comes back to me, or is it worth taking a top tier WR (maybe Owens, Holt, or Johnson) and grab the cooresponding QB for my 3rd pick. I'v heard some pros and cons, but am still open to suggestions. thanks

I have the same dilemma picking at #5 in a 10 team redraft. Thing is, you get 6 pts for ALL TDs, even throwing.

I like trying to grab my 2 RBs first, but if there's an elite WR like Chad or Marvin Harrison there that late, I might consider taking one of them

You're going to have to play it by ear and see what the others do and what's on the board when it comes back to you. Offhand I would say go RB - RB since solid RB's are going to be even more of a premium in a 12 team league.

If I were in your shoes, take a RB #5. If Steve Smith or Chad Johnson are on the board in the second round take them. If they are both gone, grab the next best RB. A good Rb should still be there. Then, concentrate on WR's with your 3rd and 4th round picks.

Thanks niner, that is what I may end up doing...I'll get more points out of them than if I just settle for a RB that will Probably be splitting carries

If you have the 5th pick, I'd take a RB first, however if you got a late pick, taking a top tier WR there isn't a terrible idea, although I would say almost always go for RB first.

If all tds are 6 points then you should consider Manning at 5. Four top RBs will be gone and Manning always produces. You could get a RB next round and a receiver in the 3rd.

I wouldn't wanna come out of the first 3 rounds with only 1 RB, especially in a 12 team league!

Plus P Manning is not a 1st round pick....let alone a top 5 pick 8-o

Link to a pretty good thread discussing QB/WR or QB/RB combos.
