Yeah, I heard on the news that it occured to somebody (this was like yesterday, so not new news) that their lights have probably been out for a couple of days now. They had food and water to last them assuming they made it to an emergency station, but being pitch black for that long would be crazy.
Anyway, any new info on them tonight? Are they saying how close they are?
they've broken into two different chambers that the miners were believed to be trapped in, and there's no sign of life in either, but they aren't for sure yet.
Man this is just getting worse, this report only speaks of one killed during rescue effort with this "bump" but on the tube they're reporting of a 2nd death...just awful.
Rescue worker killed, others injured at Utah mine
HUNTINGTON, Utah (AP) - A disastrous cave-in killed a rescue worker and injured at least eight others who were trying to tunnel through rubble to reach six trapped miners, authorities said.
It was a shocking setback Thursday, the 11th day of the effort to find miners who have been confined at least 1,500 feet (450 meters) below ground at the Crandall Canyon mine. It is unknown whether the six are alive or dead.
"All rescue workers have been evacuated from the mine. Nine rescue workers were injured in the accident. One of those suffered fatal injuries,'' said Dirk Fillpot, a spokesman for the federal Mine Safety and Health Administration. - AP
So what is the latest? They still haven't confirmed that there are any of the trapped miners still living have they? It's a sad story and its not sounding very possible that there will be a good outcome.
