Bengals' Irons out for season
Cincinnati, OH (Sports Network) - Cincinnati Bengals rookie running back Kenny Irons will miss the rest of the season due to a torn anterior cruciate ligament in his left knee, the team announced on Friday.
Irons, the Bengals second round pick out of Auburn, suffered the season-ending injury during Thursday night's 27-26 loss to Detroit.
Tests were conducted on Friday and confirmed the extent of the injury.
The news comes as another blow to the depleted Cincinnati backfield.
Running back Chris Perry, a former first-round pick, is expected to begin the season on the Physically-Unable-to-Perform list and miss at least six games.
