The Dirty South - Hotlanta's WRs

Postby a4ce » Sat Aug 11, 2007 1:52 am

Looks like Jenkins is the WR1 in the Dirty South. With Harrington lining up behind center and a new coach in Petrino, where do you put this guy? Worthy of being drafted? Leave him on the WW? Is he a better WR to have than say...Brandon Marshall? Horn is in the lead to get the WR2 over Roddy White and draw more coverage to him. I know, I know it's the Falcons WRs but I think Jenkins will surprise people this year. Or am I just plain nuts!

Joe Horn was a possible 4WR on my target, after Vick's actions he's dead ro me. Crumpler's value even dropped for me a little.

I loved watching Petrino's offensive scheme at the college level, but this is not college.

I am staying away from all Atlanta players unless they fall and become a super value pick. Defenses will key the run (Norwood had alot potential coming into the season) and that will force Harrington to make the right read of the defense. This is an area in which he truly struggles. I know I am Commander Obvious with this statement, but the Falcons and their Offensive players are not the same team without Vick.

Only Atlanta player I'll touch is Norwood.

Crumpler Value goes up IMO. Vick out means more throwing and someone has to catch the passes.

Joey Harrington couldn't hit Randy McMichael for his life last year. Also, Crumpler got what seemed like 50% or more of Vick's looks in the passing game. The simple matter is somehow, despite all Vick's failings in the passing game, Crumpler caught virtually everything Vick threw his way, and he was the favorite target in Atlanta. All of that is now uncertain. Crumpler has the talent I think, but he's not nearly as much a lock to put up quality TE numbers as before.

For the life of me, I just don't understand the opinions out there that Atlanta's passing game will magically improve just because Michael Vick is gone (and especially in Crumpler's case)

This is Joey Harrington we are talking about!!!..

Wasn't Danny Wuerffel going to light it up in the Spurrier Fun n' Gun? This definitely isn't college folks. Who was the last guy that made the transition from college and was actually successful? Jimmy Johnson? It's not an easy thing to do.

I have actually upped all of ATL's WRs except Crumpler (because Vick has a man-crush on him) when I heard about that. Joey Harrington is not good, but he is replacing probably the worst starting QB in the league in terms of passing yardage and WR production. That said, I don't see any of them as being viable starters for a fantasy team.
