Green dots on QB helmets?

What's the deal with the green dots on the back of the QB helmets in the preseason games? Just curious if anyone knows anything. Thanks.

Those are the helmets with the earpieces in them. They are marked because only one player may have an earpiece on the field, and with some teams starting to use backup QBs in various wideout situations they needed to make that distinction.

Yeah..... John Madden explained it in the Seattle/SD game, only his explanation took 30 minutes to say the same thing!!!
