ALERT---TOTAL NOOB QUESTION

Postby paddyp43 » Sun Aug 12, 2007 10:46 pm

Sup Guys, total rookie here to fantasy football. Been doin the fantasy baseball thing.

I got a question; no who to draft where, but what position to draft where. How should it "normally" go? Rules in the league 2 RB 1 QB 3 WR 1 W/R 1 TE 1 DEF 1 K

1RD RB
2RD RB/WR
3RD WR
4th QB
5-8 RB, WR/TE WR/RB
9 Def
10-Take a chance
11-K

DOes this look ok. It is general, I know during drafts it may change as who to draft where and such..but does this positioning look ok?
Thanks guys; first draft is tom; quick help would be appreciated ;-D

Check out the discussion in this thread first:

I think it will discuss most of your questions. If not, ask some specific ones that you don't feel were covered.

You seem to have the basic concept okay - everyone has a slight variation on the formula and things such as scoring system and league size also come into play. Also, what the others are doing comes into play somewhat. I usually use RB/RB/WR/WR/QB/TE to start as a rough guide, but that is flexible, and what I do after that depends a lot on who the best players left on the board are.
Also check this thread for some other opinions:

Good luck, and welcome to the board!

I agree, there's no right way to draft every time, I prefer to draft two rb's first then a WR. Especially this year, there are a lot of available wr's to get in later rounds. The qb's will be there later too, I never grab one of the top 5 qb's, there's always one who emerges as the season goes along. RB's are needed as almost none ever play all year w/out an injury and the more you have the better of you'll be...

I say stick with that plan but you have to be prepared to adjust during the draft. For example if you're drafting in the last spot in round 4 and everyone ahead of you takes a QB, it probably wouldn't be smart to take a QB since everyone else has filled their primary QB spot already. Take a RB/WR and wait till the next round for your QB as he'll still be available.

Make sense?
