Anybody else watching the Perseids?

Postby Nfl Fan » Mon Aug 13, 2007 1:09 pm

Last night was a good display and should be ok tonight as well. My wife and kids and I layed out from about 11-12 last night and saw a bunch of brilliant 'shooting stars' as earth passed through.

Every year I intend to, but it seems like every year a storm passes through. Last night was no exception, and so once again I didn't get to see them. :-/

What's wrong with that? Than all the lights would be off and it would be easier to see. ;-) :-B

that storm was ridiculous, some people still don't have power in the twin cities... couldn't see 5 feet in front of your face at times... tree cleanup crews must be loving it...

so i didn't see anything either, it's stormed every night for 3 or 4 straight where i live...

My wife and I watched Saturday night from the rim of Crater Lake (Oregon people know what's up!), which is at abotu 7,500 feet, so it's above most of the smoke/pollution and miles away from any city lights. With no moon out, just the number of stars visible was impressive on its own. We counted about 120 shooting stars between about midnight and 1:30.

Art Vandelay...
You are the man! ;-D

We saw a nice display too, but nothing like that! There were a few fireballs that lit up the sky, but I can only imagine what you got to see. Nice.
