8 team vs. 10 team league

I am looking for some thoughts on 8 vs. 10 team leagues. Our league has always been an eight team league but this year we are thinking about adding two more. The thoughts have been that in an 8, too many good players are left on the bench. Unlike a 12 where sometimes you only have a couple of premiere players so your team is already set each week. We are trying to split the difference. Unfortunately, we can't find a schedule that we all like ie: we don't play each other twice, or how many weeks to go before playoffs. Does anybody have some scenarios that work for them? Thank you.

Here is a scheduling set up that should work well for a 10 Team League:

- 2 Divisions of 5 Teams Each

Weeks 1 thru 13 - Every team plays their Division opponents twice and non Division opponents once
Week 14 - Each team plays one other team, determined by a random drawing

2 Division Winners and 2 Wildcards go to a 4 team playoff

Weeks 15 and 16 - Playoffs.
