I need help in QB drafting strategy

Postby iky » Sat Aug 18, 2007 5:13 pm

This year my PPR league's scoring has changed from 1pt=50yards to 1pt=10yards giving QB position pretty big advantage in scoring. I've played with these guys for a while and i know during the draft Peyton is gonna go top5 and then there's gonna be WR run probably from end of first round through whole second. My question is - how cruicial is it for me to draft a top tier QB and how do I use my opponents lack of draft skills to my advantage?

In my main league, which happens to have a similar scoring format to that which you mentioned, I targeted quarterbacks in the mid-rounds. Some guys in particular that I had on my draft list were...

- Tony Romo
- Jon Kitna
- Vince Young
- Matt Hasselbeck

Pick up a solid back-up in the later rounds and play the match-ups and you should be good. Save your early selections for the positions that'll help you in a PPR format, namely RBs and WRs.

I would take any of the top 6 in the first 2 rounds. That scoring system favors QB's too much IMO.

Well what about when you have the same scoring format but have to play 2 QB's instead of 1? Then it becomes even more important to get a good one, right? My league has that same scoring with 2 qb 2 rb and 3 wr's with a flex wr/t spot. I'm so confused about how to draft tonight...help please!

Wait, your QBs get a point for every ten yards? Thats ridiculous. Even the worst QBs are probably going to outscore a lot of RBs handily, and the top ones are going to win weeks by themselves. Get one of the top tier ones, you must if you want to win.
