BRADY QUINN PUSHING FOR STARTING JOB
Posted Aug. 22 at 08:24 AM
Cleveland Browns head coach Romeo Crennel said Tuesday that the
competition for the team's starting QB job is down to two players.
However, Crennel wouldn't name which two QBs, leading to speculation
that rookie QB BRADY QUINN could be one of them.
Crennel gave most of his veterans Tuesday off and allowed Quinn to
handle all the first-team reps on offense. QB CHARLIE FRYE has been
named the team's starting quarterback for this Saturday's exhibition
game vs. Denver but Quinn believes he still has a shot to supplant
Frye before opening day.
"I'd say never say never," responded Quinn when asked about his
starting chances. "I think it's still on, some of the competition.
Even though a starter's been announced for this game, I think guys
are still competing. The roster hasn't been set yet. This isn't Week
One yet for the NFL. We have two weeks left of hard work." Source:
