WHY WOULD MY EAGLES LET TROTTER GO????

Postby madstork43 » Thu Aug 23, 2007 2:31 pm

I was really looking forward to the two headed monster of Trotter and Spikes...

Does anyone have a conspriracy theory about why they let Trotter go? He is visiting the bucs as we speak...

I think he could have at least played for the eagles on 1st and 2nd down... Sheesh!!!!

his run stopping ability had diminished and he was a total liability in coverage.

That and Andy Reid almost always releases old, injury-prone players no matter how good they are.

All I know is that I am glad cause Trotter was an absolute beast on the field against the Cowboys. So for that reason alone, I am happy. :-)

Nah we keep the old fellas as long as they pull their weight. Runyan and Dawkins are 12 year vets, but lets be honest, 95% of all safeties young and old can't hit like Dawkins still can, that's why. I loved Trotter, but I have to trust Reid he's been right on too many players: Duce, Vincent, Taylor, Simon, Emmons.

EDIT: Don't worry Joel, we still have Lito to run back an INT TD return on you guys.

They also let Michael Lewis go. That was a big mistake on their part.

Did you watch Lewis play last year? He lost his starting job due to inability to cover anything that moved faster than a turtle. That's an exaggeration, but he was a huge liability in coverage, and just under-performing severely. In the worst case scenario the Eagles will be forced to go with Mikell, who is a huge hitter and a better cover safety.

Unless Lewis does a 180 he's at best an average Strong Safety.
