OT: Xbox360 question

Postby woodson_28 » Thu Aug 23, 2007 7:34 pm

I picked up a "gaming receiver for windows" device the other day. For those that don't know what it is, it plugs into a USB port and can sync w/ a xbox 360 controller, so that you can use your controller to play games on your PC (such as emulators).

Anyway, I bought mine yesterday and put the cd in and installed all the parts. Then I plugged the receiver into the usb port and it automatically game on. I turned my xbox controller on and hit the sync button on the receiver until the light started flashing. I than hit the sync button on my controller. The center light rotated around for a few seconds, and then all four lights started to blink at the same time. The stupid thing wont sync! What am I doing wrong?

I took the controller back over to my xbox and re-synced it and it worked just fine. I then tried a second controller, but same result. Is there anybody that can help me w/ this? I tried posting on xbox sites, but no luck. Thanx

btw, I'm running Vista.

I'm honestly not sure, although I am a big fan of the press every button and hope something happens approach. Anyway, there is a video games forum as well, so you may want to try posting the question there as well.

Hmm. I'll bet your missing a driver or download for the USB attachment. When you plug the USB in does windows notify you that it found the device? Sometimes those kinds of things are really picky about the order you do it in. Fully installing the software before plugging anything in is usually a good order of operations. Search around online for 3rd party programs that could assist you. I'd bet it's just a problem of the USB not seeing the controller. Maybe there are a couple options under game controllers you could check out in the control panel.

n/m, I finally figured it out. my brother said I had to "run as administrator" if I was using a controller of Vista. I tried that several times, but w/ no luck. Finally I just disabled that stupid "user account control" and the controller now works great. Thanx anway guys...

Yeah, I would disable that user account control on any Vista computer. It's kinda like a vacuum cleaner....
