Here's when to see it in the US:

I'll be sleeping (I've seen several of these by now) but it should be pretty cool if you happen to be up.

I thought there was supposed to be 2 "moons" tonight???

Mark your calender ..

*Two Moons on 27 August*

*27th Aug the Whole World is waiting for.............* it is a memorial event!!

Planet Mars will be the brightest in the night sky starting August.

It will look as large as the full moon to the naked eye. This will cultivate on Aug. 27 when Mars comes within 34.65M miles of earth. Be sure to watch the sky on Aug. 27 12:30 am midnight. It will look like the earth has 2 moons. The next time Mars may come this much closer in 2287.

Last time I woke up for something lunar Knapp posted about here it was so bright in the morning you couldn't see it.

I forgot what it was but it was like 7:00am on a Sunday morning in February or something. I ran outside in 5 degree weather, slipped on ice going down the driveway. Had a crappy view to the east as there's a big tree so I have to go to the other side of the street... Then it was probably still so low in the horizon it would have made no difference how bright it was I couldn't see zilch. I'm happy to miss these early morning ones. Tell me when I can see something during the hours of 9pm-2am and I'm there.

It is just a hoax, and it's a hoax that's been around for years and years (I think I first got that email in 2001?). I have never understood why this one is so "believable" for so many people, but then I guess most folks just don't think about the vast distances in space between our planet and the next one over.

it's not that they don't think about it, it's that they don't know. case and point:
