Let's see - fastest guy in the NFL, will be used as a deep threat, has decent hands, also returns punts & kickoffs. Yeah, I drafted him in the 14th round in my league (which rewards return yards), and think I got a steal.
Basically it goes like this: if Hester gets even half the stats in the return game as he got last year, and that's a really conservative estimate, and if he gets the same receiving numbers as the #100 WR in fantasy last year (which in my league was Michael Clayton from Tampa Bay), that'll give him stats equal to the #40 WR. If you are in a 12-team league, that equates to nearly a #3 WR.
I happen to think that Hester is going to do better than that in the return game (I gave him 600 return yards and 3 TDs), plus I think he'll do better at WR than Michael Clayton did last year, so to me he's a very good #3 WR who could put up #2 WR numbers.
If you can get a guy like that in the last two or three rounds of your draft then it's a good deal. But Hester's value IMO largely rests with leagues that reward return yards.
How 'bout them Huskers!
