2 QBs, 3 RBs starting

Postby DeShaunFosterPWNZ » Fri Aug 31, 2007 6:52 pm

Hi i know you're never supposed to pick a Qb the first rounds, but what about if its a 2 QB starting league?? I read somewhere that the elite passers (ie Manning, Brees, Brady, Palmer, Bulger) get just as much fantasy points as top backs, so in this case would it be a good idea to draft a top back first round and if they're available Manning or Palmer second as that would pointwise be equivelent to an elite back?? Just so you know also, all TDs are worth the same in my league, 6 points..
My draft's sunday, I have a good feeling about Jones-Drew, plus hes a UCLA guy, what position have you guys seen him usually going at?

It doesn't matter how many points a quarterback scores in relation to runningbacks, all that matters is how many points he scores in other quarterbacks (this is the main principal of VBD). For example: Peyton manning and LT may each score 300 points, but if Carson Palmer racks up 290 and Sjax racks up only 250, LT is way more valuable than manning. So the elite quarterbacks will go earlier than they are in standard drafts. That is all well and good but you also need to start three runningbacks. Because the dropoff at runningback is so much greater than at quarterback, I think you need to go RB-RB with your first two picks, unless you are getting awesome value at QB (IE: Manning falls to 12 or something rediculous like that). Personally, I'd go into your draft looking to go RB-RB-QB-RB-WR. Bear in mind though, don't stick to this as a hard and fast rule, hell you might not even want to listen to it. Also, bear in mind that once Bulger and maybe Mcnabb are off the board, there really isn't a huge amount of difference between the next 10 or so QBs.

Oh and as for MJD- he's going around the late second-early third

I've been in a 6 player keeper league for 10+ years. We have 8 owners and our league is a scoring league.
We start 2 QB, 3 RB, 3 WR, 1 TE, 1K, 1Defense. QB's get 1 point for every 50 yds passing and 6 points for TD. RB/WR 1 pt per 20yds, 6 pts for TD's.
This year we started a 2nd league with the same setup. 9 owners
Peyton Manning went #9 overall
Carson Palmer 18
Brees, Brady, McNabb, Bulger were gone before pick 60.
Here's a sample of what players scored from 2006 using this scoring system
Manning 294
Palmer 237
Brady 204
Eli 186
Favre 166
LT 322
LJ 224
Willie Parker 194
Westbrook 148
Edgerrin 91
McGahee 86
Harrison 135
TO 131
Holt/S Smith 115
Lee Evans 117
Plax 104
Fitzgerald 79
Here is the team I ended up with, in which I feel confident I will be in the top 3
Palmer/Delhomme/McNair/Huard
LJ, AP(minn), Thomas Jones, M Bell, L Betts, B Leonard, D Foster,
Holt/Steve Smith, Lee Evans, Jericho Cotchery, DJ Hackett,
Crumpler
I went with RB,QB,WR,WR,RB,WR,RB,RB,RB,WR,RB
