Jason Hanson is the only guy I really consider a great breakout candidate at kicker. Other than that, who cares? It's kickers.

I don't draft a kicker until the last and final round, but I do actually put some thought into it. If one of these years I get lucky and grab that one standout guy, I'll probably drop someone else during his bye week in order to keep him, but that hasn't happened to me in the past and I don't waste much time dwelling on whether or not my kicker is going to score me big time points. With that said, I have drafted Joe Nedney in each of my 4 leagues this year and I beleive he just may come around for me. (he was the top rated FF kicker a few years back, and SF has improved A LOT over the past 3 years). Let's hope we're right and Nedney is the man this year. Otherwise I guess I'm swapping kickers each week like I always have, but it doesn't seem to hurt my chances of winning the championship as I've won plenty of them in the past.

I was looking at Crosby, but it doesn't seem like he's locked down the job yet which is pretty concerning this late in the preseason.

Yeah. But the cuts are today. Disregard my last post if the Packers end up keeping two kickers for some reason.

The Packers cut Rayner.

I wouldnt call him a breakout candidate - he's been the best player on the Lions for years now. I would think he would be drafted in all leagues at this point.

Some guys I dont see being drafted regularly that probably should be include Olindo Mare (NO) and Nedney (SF).

A decent sleeper is Bironas (TEN).

What's a good matchup for a kicker?

Good offense going up a good red zone defense. Or just a bad defense; some drives are sure to result in just field goals.

If your league doesn't penalize for missed kicks then look at Jeff Reed from Pittsburg. Their offense should be much better this year but not a TD producing powerhouse. That means lots of fg opportunities!

Reed has a good leg but he kicks in the swirling wind at Hienz field which can be tricky so his accuracy is not the best in the league.

Akers -- he's 4/4 (I think) in preseason 50+ FGs, and led the league in extra points lat year.

Scobee -- led the league in 40+ FGs last year.

Those are the two I'm looking at, but Hanson's a good bet, too.
