How Important is a Backup QB?

Postby Tetonskier » Sun Sep 02, 2007 12:53 pm

I have Brees and Matt Leinart, but could be stronger at RB and WR. How important is it to keep a quality backup like Leinart in FFL? In the real world if your QB goes down, your season could be over if you don't have a quality backup. Is it the same in FFL, do I keep the quality QB for insurance/bye week? Or, should I try to load up on the other skill positions, and if something happens, trade for a starter or pick up a QB on waivers?

I think that since you have Smith as your backup, you don't really have to worry about holding onto Leinart or visa versa. I see smith doing solid this year, especially with the addition of Darrell Jackson

You have Smith, so I'd trade Lienart. If you can get a good RB or WR for him, it is definatly worth the risk IMO.

Thanks to abrunn for the awesome sig

It really depends on your league... If there are plenty of QB's on the wire, I wouldn't worry about holding onto a backup... If Brees gets hurt you can always grab a guy off the wire... If your wire is bare, though, you might consider holding Leinart...

If you do decide to get rid of Leinart, though, I wouldn't cut him... Look to trade him after he has a good game or two...
