My Wimpy managers do not trade ...........suggestions ?

I have been running a 14 team $$$ league of pretty much the same managers for the past five years and getting someone to trade is like pulling teeth.

With 14 teams talent is tight and for the first few years I had nothing but complaints about hoarders. Last year and this to make the whiners happy I put limits on roster spots.
qb - start 1 /max 2
rb -start 2 /max4
wr - start 2 /max 4
te - start 1 /max 2

Last year trades pretty dried up to a drip ( 3 or 4 maybe ).

[u][b]IMO [/b][/u]- trades happen when 1 manager has an excess of " X" and is able to offer a package to a manager in need of something.
With these limits it is impossible to put together a good enough package deal to make a trade viable.
In addition - Limits are placed on what can be offered and accepted due to roster spots.

I send out trades daily with no takers - I never send a trade out unless it benefits the other team.Upgrade to a WR / RB or an upgrade to to positions. My offers always were 2 - 1 , 3-2, 3-1, etc.

I know 1/2 the problem is the mangers but it is very frustrating. Plus with 14 teams talent will always be thin- tough titty is my thoughts - but ??? well ......you know.

What do you think of the roster limits ??
Any other suggestions to help increase trades ??

You may have to rethink your offers. I personally don't like a 2 for 1, or 3 for 1 trade because it essentially is watering down a roster. Although that person may have a hole in their starting lineup, getting rid of a "stud" for two players is not a solution - I suspect this is the type of thing you may be targeting.

A 2 for 1 trade offer essentially is not a 2 for 1 because you still need to drop a player or two to get back down to you roster limit.

How active is your waiver wire? If it's far more active then suggest a deeper roster. With less viable talent on the wire, owners may need to trade.

Just out of curiosity, why are you trying to increase trades? If owners want/need to trade they will.

I understand that trades can make the season more fun but I'm not sure that trying to adjust the rules/league settings is the way to go. Perhaps finding a league with more active owners is the solution.

If you charge transaction fees, you might think about only charging them for waiver wire FA pickups and eliminating them for trades. Sometimes it's a money thing, owners don't want to pay fees for 2 or 3 guys involved in a trade and/or they're more likely to do it if they know it's a free move.
