What to do about an absentee commissioner?

Postby Oatsdad » Fri Sep 14, 2007 10:29 am

In one of my Yahoo custom H2H leagues, the commish set the scoring to 1 point per RETURN YARD. I noticed this before the draft but figured it had to be a goof, as it makes a total mockery of the league. I e-mailed him to ask - no response.

Week One comes and goes - no change in the system, no comments from the commish. I e-mail the league - no one likes the screwy scoring and they want it changed, but still nothing from the commish. He's not made any moves this year and apparently doesn't respond to e-mails or posts on the league message board.

So is there anything the league can do? Contacts to be made at Yahoo? I remain convinced that the scoring in question was a mistake - the commish had no returners on his team, so if he'd done the 1 point per return yard on purpose, he'd have taken advantage of it, right?

I've made adjustments for my own team and grabbed three returners - I'm not getting crushed again - but I now hate this idiotic league and want SOMETHING to be done in the form of an actual commish! :~( :-t Thoughts?

Well, I don't want to go MIA myself. If the commish never reappears, can I get someone at Yahoo to intervene?

If he is also an owner, that means one of the teams is dead anyway. If you haven't paid money to this jerk, then you and the other owners have no reason to continue with a league that has an abandoned team. Not to mention, no commish.

Contact Yahoo through the help section to see about folding the league.

Thanks - that's the advice I needed. It's too early to do so right now, I think - I don't think Yahoo would fold the league so soon - and I have no idea how tough it is to do so. If things don't change soon, though, I'm gonna contact them.

Y'know, people disparage the playing quality of Yahoo Public leagues, but at least you don't go through nonsense like this in those leagues...
