LOL @ SD for thinking Norv Turner > Martyball

Just have to think the owners are kicking themselves with this decision. Turner hasn't done a damn thing since he left Dallas as Off coord, IMO. He sucked at the Redskins he sucked as Miami's Off coord. Marty may not have gotten the teams through the big games but he got them TO the big games. I bet LT2 and co wishes for Schott to come back.

why because they played 2 of the best teams in the nfl in back to back games and came out 1 and 1? i think there are 17 weeks...but, yeah, after 2 weeks we do know enough to throw in the towel.

Agreed, Moonhead. Let's see where the Chargers are come week five or six. These two weeks against these two tough defenses are hardly going to be indicative of their whole season.

It does bear noting that San Diego plays a slew of tough defenses this year. Here's their weekly schedule:

Bears *
Patriots *
Packers *
Chiefs
Broncos *
Raiders *
Texans
Vikings *
Colts *
Jaguars *
Ravens *
Chiefs
Titans *
Lions
Broncos *
Raiders *

* = good/decent against the run.

That's 11 games against stout run defenses. LT2 isn't going to run all over the league this year, most likely.

Slightly off where the thread is going, but let's not forget what NTurner did for SF and Gore last year.

Turner can't make LT better than last year. That's next to impossible without getting Chuck Norris involved.

Personally, I think Turner's contributions to the success of individual running backs is vastly overrated on the Cafe. Gore looks just fine without him. And now that he has a coach that wasn't running a Bed and Breakfast the year before, so does Lamont Jordan. What exactly did Norv do for them again?

not norvs fault... any kind of coaching would not have saved them from losing. The Chargers were overmatched in all 3 phases of the game(Bellichek's favorite thing to say after winnin :D). He played by far the best team in the nfl, any team will look silly against the pats.

Yea lets just throw out the window what norv did for alex smith's progression as a qb from awful to solid in one year...he probably took a step back this year without him...its going to take the chargers some time, they lost all 3 main head coaches, give it more then 2 weeks...

and Marty was gone anyway he didnt get along with the GM, it was ugly so they were going to find another HC regardless of whether he was better then marty or not...and martyball sucked, marty was a great great coach, but "martyball" was horrible
