Advice for a newbie

I'm taking part in the league at the office despite not being much of a football fan but I have done fantasy basketball before. So far I'm 1-1 but 3rd in points. This is my team after the autodraft and a few moves:

14 Team ( QB, 2WR, 2RB, 3W/R, TE, K, DEF )
QB: J. Kitna, E. Manning
WR: T. Owens, S. Moss, S. Holmes, J. Jones(GB), D. Bowe, S. McDonald
RB: F. Gore, M. Lynch, A. Peterson(Min), J. Chatman
TE: B. Watson
K: R. Gould
DEF: Miami, Cincinatti

I picked up S. McDonald, J. Jones, J. Chatman, and C. Brown as FA's.
Then I traded C. Brown & J. Losman for S. Holmes & E. Manning.
I've got a waiver pending right now to get S. Morris for Cincinnati.

Should I try to improve my defense or target some buy low guys? I think the teams with L. Johnson and S. Jackson could both use a QB upgrade. I'd like to get more of a sure thing in place of at least one of my rookie RB's.

Wow. T.O. and Frank Gore are your only studs, with Kitna following closely. Without knowing how your league scores, I would say you definitely need another RB, but I am not sure it needs to be LJ or S. JAX. Addai is going to be the #1 back this year and you might be able to get him for Kitna and Peterson (but I doubt it). I would look to get someone like McGahee, L. Jordan, Edgerrin James. None of these guys have the O-line problems that LJ and SJ have.
