
These had me befuddled for the longest time too. I can help with some of them:
WHIR -- means "Will Help in Return" -- people use this in the Trade & Start/Sit forums to encourage others to respond to their posts. If someone posts WHIR, leave a link to your post, and they'll respond to it.
PPR (and non-PPR) -- means "Points per Reception" -- some FFL leagues grant a point or .5 points for each reception. In PPR formats, those running backs and wide-outs who simply catch more passes are more valuable than in standard formats. Reggie Bush, Brian Westbrook have more value in PPR leagues than non-ppr leagues. Wes Welker and Derick Mason, both of whom catch a lot of balls, but don't chalk up that many yards, are also more valuable in PPR leagues.
