Loonie Reaches Parity with US Dollar

Postby bobbing_headz » Sat Sep 22, 2007 2:46 pm

Thought as a Canadian I had to bring this up :-D

I believe the Loonie might actually be higher than the US Dollar. I'm sure most of you guys don't care though. Good for heading down to the US to shop for stuff which is an absolute bargain there. Prices here in Canada haven't come close to catching up with the incredible rise in the dollar. Not great for Canadian exporters though I guess...

Yeah, great for you people but not so good for people from America going to Canada. It's crazy how fast the value has changed though. Wasn't it at $1.40 like 2 years ago?

Ya, the Loonie was around $.60 American only about 5 or 6 years ago so this is an incredible rise.

I will be travelling to Buffalo to rape and pillage merchants for their wares in the near future.

This is why this actually hurts Canada. No more cross-border shoppers. What's the draw, if it costs more there than here? On the flip side, more Canadians will be coming across the border to purchase goods here in America.
