I almost benched Brees for the Monday game until I ended up with a 17 point lead (won by 10). How many people would be pissed if some one benched a player and left an empty roster spot and the player ended up getting neg points that could of effected the outcome.
Will Brees snap out of his funk?

I wouldn't be mad, but perplexed might be a more logical word. I can't think anyone ever believes that their QB is going to put up negative points, with the exception of Rex Grossman's dad, who owns Rex on his fantasy league. I would think you would want to score as many points as possible, and that would mean starting a player at every position, regardless if you have already won or lost your matchup.
I've done it before when I had a very small lead going into a Monday night game and my opponent had no players left.
I think it was last year, I had something like a 0.8 point lead and I decided to bench my WR instead of taking the risk. If he fumbled and had a horrible game or got hurt very early on after a fumble, I could have lost.
However, it should only be used when you have a very very small lead and are not confident in your player. I think I benched Chambers or a player of that quality. Others in your league might consider it a cheap or pu$$y move, but you have to do anything you can to win- Unless there is a specific rule stating that everyone must use a player in all starting slots in a given week.
after seeing what grossman would do last year, i have no problem benching someone (kickers excluded) if you are only up a point and your opponent has no one left. a win is a win.
Thanks to deluxe_247 for sig, he is welcome to sail with the Captain too! I will win all of the fantasy cafe games.....next year
neg points would be very rare with a player you drafted with the exception of def against offensive teams like colts and that only if they give alot of neg points for giving up 30+ points. i dont really understand this thread but if its like not playing a catcher in baseball sometimes i would sit them
If a wildcard spot or other rankings are determined by total points... then perhaps it would be wise to try to salvage at least a few extra points. You never know when those extra points could come in handy.

Well, I kinda see where he is coming from. I have Brees as well, he has given negative points 2 out of the 3 games he has played in for me this year. He is now on the bench with a trading block up on him. That being said, I would still probably play the players. I think there are some leagues that will not let you no play a position.
