The Proverbial 3rd Year WR

Postby Regalus » Wed Sep 26, 2007 3:45 pm

Its still a little early to discredit these 3rd year WR from having a breakout season, but the top 3rd years going into this draft.

Reggie Brown
Vincent Jackson
Mark Clayton
Braylon Edwards

Do any of these guys looked poised to have a breakout campaign, or could this year be an anomaly?

Braylon is looking like a pretty safe bet to be a solid starter on most teams. He could easily finish as a top 10-15 guy. Brown and Clayton are not looking good and seem to have been passed on the depth chart. Jackson is looking decent, but I was never a huge fan of his, so I won't be targetting him in trades.

While Braylon has had the best start of these guys, I dont think I'm sold on him just yet. I had him last year, and he never produced when I started him. Maybe he just left a bad taste in my mouth, but I dont think I'm going to try and make any deals for him. Is that a mistake?

I say if you've got the taste of another dude in your mouth, he must've produced for you. Get your story straight.

Yea he definetely produced like the man in tough matchups when I benched him. We only started 2 WR in that league, and the couple times I played him at weeks 5,7,8 he did poopoo for me.

It was obvious Braylon was gonna do well cause he already semi-broke out last year. Clayton should be breaking but injuries have been holding him back. I think he'll come back and produce like a high WR3. As for Brown and Jackson, I don't like either. Jackson plays on a struggling run-first offense and Brown hasn't been getting the ball, even when Philly is blowing away teams.

While I agree that he was definetely a good WR last year, I think this sorta thing happens to everyone at some point in time. You have a guy on your bench who's outperforming your starters, so you make the switch, and then he underperforms. Its frustrating, but.....thats the story of.....thats the glory of....FFb

Braylon Edwards looks like he is well on his way to a breakout season. The Browns targeted him often in exhibition season and I see no change in that now. When or if they change QBs I fully expect that Braylon will still get targeted...and get open.
Vincent Jackson could start to produce nicely once the Chargers get their feet underneath them.
