2008 LSU Thread

Postby lsufan » Tue Oct 02, 2007 10:38 pm

I thought I would start the first 2007 LSU thread. LSU is now a contender to win it all this season. LSU is still undefeated and will play Florida in Death Valley next week(I will be screaming in the student section). Kentucky and Alabama are tough road games but they are teams LSU should still beat. Let me be the first person to start controversy. I think Perrilloux will make or break the season for the Tigers. Doucet is also a major factor but still not as big a factor as Perrilloux. Watching Florida lose to Auburn last week leads me to think we should beat them next week but who knows. If Flynn is not efficient passing, LSU will have to win with their defense. Florida has a good enough offense to win regardless of our defense. Somebody in the LSU offense will have to step up to the plate and get the job done and I think it will be Perrilloux. I may be wrong but who knows. Flynn may get his stuff together this week and LaFell could be the number one WR. Florida should force LSU to win the game through the air and stop our running game. LSU should stop Tebow on the ground and double team Harvin. Needless to say this weekend will be fun to watch regardless of the outcome.

LSU sucks and has no chance. They are terrible on both sides of the ball. Their special teams are atrocious. Their coaching staff appears to be clueless.

I doubt they'll even crack the Top 25 this year. They look to me like a 5-7 team. And they'll need help to get those five wins.

I agree with most of your points about LSU, but I think the real X-factor here is the health of Early Doucet. The passing game is struggling somewhat without him in the lineup. I hope he gets back on the field soon b/c I think LSU is going to need him to get through the meat of the season, which starts this weekend against Florida.

Not to mention the fact that Matt Flynn is regarded as the better of the two QBs as far as throwing goes and he's not even that proficient IMO. If you watch the first couple of games before Perilloux (sp?) started playing he took off running a lot b/c he wasn't comfortable trying to fit the ball into tight spots. There should be a lot of open spots in the FL secondary on Saturday so it shouldn't be as tough though.

Also, the FL run defense takes a huge hit if SS Tony Joiner doesn't play. He is more important to the run defense than the pass defense. He's more of a Roy Williams-type than a cover safety for the Gators.

Also, LSU fan, what are the bars I should hit in Baton Rouge? I'm headed there for the game.

I'm not an LSU fan, although they are actually my prediction to win it all this year (yes, I know that's not uncommon).

What kind of atmosphere are you looking for?

If you like to party with lots of people and lots of noise, head to Tiger Land and go to Fred's. It is a popular hangout ... guys have to be 21 to get in, ladies 19.

If you want something less crowded and more grown-up, head downtown to the Roux House. There also are a few other bars near there that are pretty decent, low-key affairs. It is a more mature crowd downtown. Pretty sure everyone has to be 21 to get into most of the downtown bars.

I actually live in Shreveport, Louisiana. I usually go to the Chimes. Its on campus and they serve pretty good food. They also have two bars. The bar in the back has a huge screen and usually has the best game on at that time. I am definitely not the person to ask about hang out spots. My brother-in-law goes to school down there so I usually hang out in his dorm or go to a tailgate party with with other family members.
