Yeah, and they'll have people throwing in $40 and the occasional chump with way too much money throwing in a grand or something, but still, I seriously doubt that they make more money off of this album than they would if they would have just put it at the normal pricing, but its interesting at least. Nice publicity stunt.
They're intention isn't to make money by doing this, it's more of a middle finger to the Music Industry and Record Labels. Radiohead isn't hurting for money.

Yeah, if they were tryin' to make money that'd make some crunk/hyphy song....
I think this could end up making them more money than they would get if they produced it under a label. The record company makes most of the money off of CDs anyways... bands usually make their cash by touring.

True. The biggest reason IMO why the music industry is so against digital downloads. Its hard to make money splitting 99 cents into a whole bunch of pockets.
I heard on the radio today that Trent Reznor really likes this idea. Oasis is also thinking about it.

I'm enjoying it. Its pretty electronica-heavy, but in a different way than what they have done in the past. The best I can do to describe is to say its like a mix of Amnesiac and Thom Yorke's solo album.
I talked to a couple friends who downloaded, and one said he was "blown away" and the other said it was a very good album, right behind "Kid A" and "OK Computer". So some good reviews so far.
