Can anyone explain to me why the Trojans lost to the Stanford Cardinals but are still in the top ten?
It's "Stanford Cardinal." No "s" on the end of Cardinal.
I guess when you're so hoity-toity that you go to Stanford, you have the clout to make your singular name plural at your whim.
Man you and the Pac-10 schools.
I can't believe I missed that one. Oh and FYI the Stanford mascot isn't a bird in fact Stanford doesn't even have an official mascot. The Tree which most people are familiar with is often mistaken for the mascot but it's not, it's actually just a member of the band, and the bands mascot.
Cardinal is in reference to one of the school colors (and is therefore in the singular.)
