When I was in junior hig school we had a ski club that allowed kids to go skiing every Friday for really cheap. I did that one year, and I've gone a handful of other times, like when they used to have canned food day where you got a free lift ticket for two cans of food. The rest of the time skiing and snowboarding have been cost prohibitive for me. I use the heck out of my snowshoes, though.

I decided to NOT learn snowboarding for two reasons:

1) I can ski and it's great fun.
2) Lots and lots of falling at my tender age sounds like a few more bumps and bruises and neck injuries and twisted knees than I need. I remember one of my son's friends catching a toe and launching about 15-20 feet before hitting face first...

... and yeah, skiing is fun enough. B-) ;-)

I bit it hard sledding a few weeks back. Probably shouldn't have been out in the first place, the snow was basically ice so it was very fast and very hard. I ended up on my back, hit a sharp bump with my shoulder and it bounced me up and back down onto my back, knocking the wind out of me. My shoulder hurt for a good 3 days. What was funny, was my boy's friend saw the whole thing and yelled to him, "Whoa, that was awesome, you should have seen what your dad just did!"
