I can understand why people would want a conference championship because it's fun, and gives a clearer feeling of "winning" the conference, but wanting it because you think it'll help with the national championship picture?
C'mon, not playing a conference championship is a H-U-G-E advantage. We all know that in today's college football quality of win hardly matters. As long as you're one of the "major" teams the a team will almost never be left out of the NC game in favor of a team with more losses, so these teams are essentially having to play not only 1 less game, but 1 less game against a top opponent, to get to that point.
