In the New England @ Dallas game, the Cowboys were backed up on the one yard line of their own endzone and Marion Barber took the hand off and ran into the pile and came back out into the endzone and proceeded to run to his right to escape tacklers and he made it back to the line of scrimmage. The question I have is if Barer was about to be tackled in the end zone outside the tackle box, what if he threw it out of the endzone to avoid the safety, whether he threw it to a receiver or out of bounds out side the endzone, is that not still a safety? Please help

No safety, but probably an illegal man down field.

If the passer is out of the pocket, he can throw it anywhere he wants (except backwards, that's like a fumble) and have it not be a safety. But like Raff pointed out, an undesigned RB pass will likely have some lineman illegally downfield.
OK I get that, the problem I have is that it was a hand off where Marion Barber ran into the pile, and then back into his own endzone from the 4 yard line and then tried to get out, but if he had passed or thrown the ball after taking that hand off, isn't it illegal to pass the ball? Think about it, how many halfback passes do you see that aren't pitches or tosses? You never see a back take a hand off and then throw except on a stretch play, which this wasn't. I just thought that if he had tried to throw it out at the 1 or 2 yard line, or thrown it out of the endzone down field, with or without a receiver, that it would have been a safety.

Still not a safety. I love our sigs.

One week, and then I'm trashing this one.
I'd seriously consider getting Black Listed for that crappy ol sig.
