The 'game of the century' is coming up and I just want to hear your views on one of the most fierce debates in football, who's better? Brady or Manning?
You can answer this question in two different ways, one, in being which QB would you take fantasy wise, or what QB you would take to run your team. Fantasy wise, I would go with Brady this season. New England doesn't have a great threat with the running game so Brady is going to throw the ball and when he does one of his three great receivers are going to come down with it (Moss, Welker, Stallworth). If your going with a QB you want to lead your team, I have to go with Manning. The guy is a genius on the field. He doesn't make stupid decisions and he knows how to lead by example. You don't here anything bad about this guy what-so-ever. He is also a role model for his teammates and the upcoming rookies have someone to follow and not go down the wrong path and turn out like 'thugs' of players (Henry, P. Jones, etc...). With Brady you here stuff on the news about his affairs, cheating on who and what not, with Manning all you here is football and commercials, nothing negative.
I'd go the opposite from Dawinner. Peyton for fantasy and Brady for a real NFL team.
Peyton is pretty consistent every year and almost entirely eliminates all worrys about the QB position for a fantasy team. But in a real team, Peyton seems too high maintenance, in a way. He needs smart players all around who can understand all his playcall changes. Brady, on the other hand, seems able to win no matter what type of players are around him.
i agree with beanoX3. besides this year, peyton has always been the better fantasy qb, but brady has led the patriots to 3 super bowls with different surrounding casts.
granted, the pats also had great defenses and bill belichick, brady still had to actually execute the gameplan
Thanks to deluxe_247 for sig, he is welcome to sail with the Captain too! I will win all of the fantasy cafe games.....next year
Give me Brady. Manning plays well in the regular season, but in the postseason, he plays horribly. Even last year when he finally won a title, he was doing his best to give away the games. If it wasn't for his defense stepping up and the running game, Manning would've choked yet another post season away. Now that Brady is putting up the stats, i think there's little doubt that Brady will be known as the better QB.
All other things being equal I'd go with Brady in both instances.
1. He's won multiple titles with half the talent Manning has had around him. Compare Troy Brown, Deion Branch, David Givens, David Patten, Antowain Smith, Kevin Faulk, Daniel Graham versus Harrison, Wayne, Stokley, Pollard, Clark, Edge. There's no comparison in who's had the most talent to work with. Manning has managed to win 1 Superbowl and he was lucky his defense got hot at the right time. Now Brady gets an infusion of talent at WR in Moss, Welker, and Stallworth and he's ripping teams to shreds.
2. If you are saying that next year if all things remain the same you are choosing Manning over Brady in fantasy, you are either a fool or a liar. You have a guy who has thrown more TD passes right now than Manning might all year and you would take Manning next year ahead of Brady? That's ridiculous. You draft based on current situation not what has happened in the past.
The hype will build all week but I think Indy is just another double digit victory under the Pats belt. I can't fathom how a team that has not won by less than 17 (and it wasn't that close) is only a 4 point favorite

Manning has had the luxury of playing all of his career with Marvin, much of it with Wayne, Brady has not had more than one all pro caliber receiver for the most part, and that's a bit of a stretch as I'm thinking Branch here... Peyton also plays at least 8 home dome games, no elements to deal with.
In 6.5 seasons , Brady has 177 TD's 80 Int's, 24000 yards and a 62.9% completion rate. In 9.5 seasons, Peyton has 288/142, 39500 yards and 64.1%. In 3 more seasons Brady's numbers should be pretty comparable to where Peyton's are now.
The first half of this season though, Brady's numbers dwarf Manning's, and if we're talking right now, be it fantasy or real live blood and guts, it's Brady hands down. Peyton has a rep as a choker, I'm not sure that's totally behind him - we''ll get a clue on Sunday. I disagree that he's a choker, I think he's a victim of a smallish team built for speed that tends to get beat up physically by the likes of the Pittsburghs and New Englands who pride themselves on smashmouth football. Without doubt, these are the 2 teams and QB's of the century so far. Again, I'll take Brady any day anywhewre, especially with his current receivers, but there are 30 other teams , with the possible exception of the Bengals *edit* and Dallas* , that would drop their starting QB in less time than it takes Brady to yell "Omaha!"
Anyone who has an issue to illegitimate children as they may relate to an athlete's performance or rep must not be much of an NBA fan. Brady is not married, found out 2 months after breaking up with his 3 year girlfriend that she was pregnant and he was already hooked up. BFD, he's single. I don't really know of any other blotches against his character, and he is every bit as much a leader and field general as Manning.
Manning is the best quarterback I have seen in my time. Brady is 1a, along with a prime Favre, but Manning just has it ALL. Peyton has not had the total team that Brady has had, especially on defense. Manning's football IQ has to be extremely high.
