Question about PCL sprain (i.e. Andre Johnson)

Postby FatFoot » Sun Nov 04, 2007 11:25 am

I haven't followed Andre's injury, and have never really done any homework on a PCL sprain.

Is this the kind of injury that one makes a complete recovery on, quickly enough to be FF viable again in the season, or is it one of those things where you "can play" but you're going to be gimpy the rest of the year?

I traded Bowe for a RB2 level RB who I don't need, having 3 possible RB1 types and Selvin on my roster, and someone is offering my AJ for this RB2. I'm not so much asking if I should make the trade, because I can make the decision myself, but since I have no knowledge of this type of injury, I was curious what you guys have to say about it (the injury type and recovery process, not the trade)

If AJ could bounce back and have a solid remainder of the year, I think I'm obligated to pick him up. If he's going to be hobbled like a SA 2006 (yes, I know, ENTIRELY different injury...) I don't want him on my roster.

from what i recall MCL sprains can be overcome in a matter of a couple of weeks. PCL, ACL are a little more serious, but it would be better if someone with a better knowledge of human anatomy and/or sports medicine would chime in.

I would imagine the only issue with the PCL sprain is to make sure it is fully healed, so it won't be torn, which would be pretty serious.

i'm not sure but iirc PCL is the most important one, maybe that's why he has been out so long with this sprain
