Getting Stumped by Pat Crayton??

Postby skibrett15 » Sun Nov 11, 2007 10:16 pm

Ok, well, here's some stats:

Week 4,5,6, 10
7/184/2, 6/73/1, 5/66/1

Ok, so those are crayton's best weeks. They're basically his only weeks also, since he has 0 tds, and 8 receptions for meager yardage in the other 5 weeks.

Now, TO's stats on crayton's best weeks
3/33/0, 2/25/0, 6/66/1, 6/125/2

Ok, so when TO has been shut down, crayton excels... not a huge revelation. But All of To's bad games (his 3 worst) led to a good crayton game (obviously not on the level of TO's good games, but he's more of a no.3 wr for you, no?)
The exception is this week, but Romo and Co. absolutely walked all over the giants secondary. Nobody benches their wr against the g-men, right?

So looking forward, we have Home against washington, home vs NYJ, home vs. GB, At Detroit, home vs Philly, at carolina, at washinton.
Teams that can shut TO down are washington, GB, I think philly can despite their failure, and washington in the rematch. Those are games I would look to start crayton.

Not the most exact strategy, and i haven't looked at witten at all, or romo's performance. But the fact that romo has a progression where he'll turn to crayton if TO isn't working out during the game seems to be obvious.

I was pretty much turned off of him after his 0/0/0 preformance last week. It'll be interesting to see how this theory works out.

you cant try to situational start a guy like this. Romo spreads the ball all over the field and crayton is low on the pecking order. there is no rhyme or reason to his production but I commend you for looking for it. either start him every week and take your occasional TD or 0 points or find a more viable option.

Same. Jees. I went to him being one of my favorite plays on a few teams (in terms of "smart manager" not most points) to me not giving him a second thought. And dropped him in my salary cap league on sportiningnews.com For Chris "Criminal" Henry. Which worked out quite well...because every normal league I had Crayton I started Henry over him as well instead...

Washington isn't gonna shut TO down, maybe with Sean Taylor and Carlos Rogers they would have had a shot but not now...

You really cant bank on TO getting shut down, Romo looks for him every game and makes sure he gets him involved, he may have a few decent/bad games left, but id bank on him putting up huge stats here on out, with crayton getting some decent starts...romo spreads it out, so alot of the time he takes what the coverage gives him and crayton will be single covered and improvises when romo is on the run, but he is pretty great after teh catch...Dallas is going to score period, but its no way of telling who has huge games, but TO will for the most part be a large part in the offense
