Even Turkeys Like Beer

A New Hampshire farmer has found a unique way to fatten up his turkeys before Thanksgiving. He feeds them a steady diet of protein and, yes, beer!

"The turkeys, as well as other animals, like beer," says owner Joe Morette. "I'm one of them."


He goes through between 50 to 60 cans a day for the nearly 300 birds on his farm.

"It slows them down a little. They're enjoying their life," says Morette.


At least until Thanksgiving.

The owner is an animal who likes beer? Or a turkey? I'm going with both.

i guess it's a good thing really, it's prolly less traumatic to a drunk turkey when you lop it's head off.

I had a spanish teacher from Colombia in high school and she said when she was little her family would buy the turkey live and kill it themselves, and that they'd always get it drunk before they killed it

So I wonder if the quality of the meat would be different if it was fat from beer instead of from a more or less "proper" diet?

doesn't explicitly say he isn't drinking those beers hisself.... if I were a turkey farmer, I'd drink heavily too.
