Possible Trade collusion

Team A has clinched in 2nd place. Team B is in 8th, 1 game out of 6th and making the playoffs.

Team A gives:
Steve Smith
Donovan McNabb

for Team B's
Bernard Berrian
Drew Brees

Team B just traded for Brees a couple days ago. Also, these guys know each other, and there is $$ involved. Our league fee is optional, if you pay you are eligible for the top prize, but Team B also is the only team not to pay to get in.

I think this is severely lopsided. Am I wrong?

Without knowing your league (keeper or re-draft and what your playoff weeks are and is it PPR?) it is hard to make a judgement. I'm also frankly astounded that all leagues haven't hit the trade deadline yet (before Thanksgiving is best) to avoid this exact situation.

I happen to like Steve Smith's schedule better than Berrian's (who faces Breen Bay in crucial week 16) but the McNabb for Brees trade is the real headscratcher.

After re-reading your initial post (the part about team 8 being the only team not paying up the league fee) and seeing as McNabb may not be playing again, I would veto the trade. With no Keeper value, there is no advantage to Team 8 to trade for essentially 1 week of play.

Be sure to move up the trade deadline at least 1 week for next year!

God, I vetoed it long enough to get some clarification and still put the trade through manually and people still throw a fit. Half my league is a bunch of winey drama queens that think they can just make any trade or drop they want with no repercussions and complete disregard for the rules. Next year there will be one hell of a disclaimer.
