Do you all think Thomas Jones will be the starter for the Jets next year? What about Leon Washington, who has looked really good all year, when given the opportunity?
The reason Washington has looked good is because he runs outside and doesn't have to deal with the complete lack of O-line the jets have. They need to desperately shore up the line or no jets RB will be worth taking next year.

I really think the Jets need McFadden even though they have a decent 1-2 combo with Leon and T.Jones. McFadden is just completely ridiculous. Just like the Vikings didn't pass up on AP with the 7th pick in the draft because they had Taylor. McFadden is the best talent in the upcoming draft and you can't pass up the best talent. I really think that the Jets offense next year is going to be quite good. Vilma for Chad Johnson? Draft McFadden?
Vilma for Chad Johnson?? Vilma is coming off a major surgery, highly doubt you get one of the best wrs in the game for a guy fresh off a serious injury

That's been the trade speculation around here for a while. Probably started around week 7? Vilma is still one of the best linebackers in the 4-3 defense in the NFL. His two first seasons with the Jets when they were in a 4-3, he was astonishing. Why does Cinci need Chad Johnson? They have Housh and Henry. Henry is a great number two on most teams. Cinci has no line backers whatsoever. Why would this trade not be good for both sides?
There is nothing wrong with the 1-2 punch of Jones and Washington. Part of the reason the Vikings selected Peterson was because Mewelde will be a free agent after this season -- making the risk of taking AP more feasible. Also, Peterson's success is PARTLY due to his ability to get holes EVERY play. Don't get me wrong, he does a lot of what he does by making open-field tacklers miss. However, being on the Jets wouldn't allow him to put up THESE numbers. The Jets need to address O-Line issues in free agency and draft someone not overrated (McFadden) -- who is not the 2nd/3rd best prospect in this year's draft, especially when, as stated before, they have a good duo already.
As far as Chad Johnson for Vilma goes, there is no way the Bengals would make that trade. All three of their starting LBs have gotten injured and will be back next season AND the cap hit they'd take would decimate their chances at competing with the Pats/Colts/Jags.
I don't see the Jets giving up on T.Jones. I think he and Washington are a very good 1-2 punch.
Like some of you mentioned the Jets have so major issues on their O-line. Trading Pete Kendell was a huge mistake by Mangini. D'Brick has been average, nothing great so far. Mangold is going to be real good and Brandon Moore their left guard is solid. Need a Right Guard and Right tackle that bring some toughness and nastiness. Right now the Jets O-line is to soft. Hopefully they can address it during the off season.

but who will block for mcFadden, just b/c a rb is good doesn't mean it will translate once he's in the nfl. Even adrian peterson couldn't run with that ridiculous excuse for an o-line the jets have. The vikings took the best player available at their position and with their awesome rock solid o-line they knew peterson was going to be a beast. His talent won't show with the jets o-line. Thomas jones can still produce if the o-line would open up some holes for him
