08 RB Speculation Rankings?

Postby Philliebuster » Mon Dec 03, 2007 10:22 pm

Anyone have the capacity to speculate where an RB like Michael Turner could be ranked next season? Also any other unkown RB's who may find themselves on a new team?

I found this list. Basically in order of reletive importance:
M Turner Possible Teams: Bears, Packers, Bengals, Texans, Jets, Dolphins.
J Jones Possible Teams: Bears, Jets, Texans, 49ers.
J Lewis Possible Teams: Browns, Texans, Jets
M Barber-Not moving

Other FAs:
***Fred Taylor RFA Jacksonville Jaguars
****Derrick Ward RFA New York Giants
*Vernand Morrency UFA Green Bay Packers
**Chris Brown UFA Tennessee Titans
Cedric Cobbs RFA Denver Broncos
*T.J. Duckett UFA Detroit Lions
****Justin Fargas UFA Oakland Raiders
Noah Herron RFA Green Bay Packers
Maurice Hicks UFA San Francisco 49ers
Travis Minor UFA St. Louis Rams
**Mewelde Moore UFA Minnesota Vikings
Artose Pinner UFA Minnesota Vikings
**Musa Smith UFA Baltimore Ravens
Tyson Thompson RFA Dallas Cowboys
LaBrandon Toefield UFA Jacksonville Jaguars

Other Free Agent Full Backs
Mike Alstott UFA Tampa Bay Buccaneers
Brad Hoover UFA Carolina Panthers
Tony Richardson UFA Minnesota Vikings

The stats for FA's who have success with one team then leave for another show it's hit or miss. Basically if the team you go to has the same bukiding blocks(good, solid O-line-a wr across from you to draw attention-a decent QB who can move the chains+ and opportunistic defense capable of creating turnovers and giving the offense TOP). Usually players who leave for a team which is balanced(like Moss and NE this year) can at least equal their stats from previous years.

Fred Taylor won't be a restricted free agent, for what I hope are obvious reasons.

Don't really have time to look it up right this moment, but I thought he signed a long contract extension last year?

What about the Atlanta situation? Is 08 the year of Norwood?

Where did you hear/read that? All I've heard was he was going to get more touches but Petrino has been saying that all season.

Sportsline is reporting that Petrino officially said Norwood is going to be the starter now instead of Dunn and will get plenty more touches.

I've seen him on these lists before, it must just be old. Yes, he signed a 4 yr deal (I believe it was 4 years, at least 3) before the season. The way it's structured, they could theoretically cut him after any of the seasons without a big cap hit, but I can't see them doing that this year with the way he's been playing (and staying healthy).
14 Teams, each keep 14 players
QB: P. Manning, Schaub
RB: MJD, Westy, C. Johnson, A. Bradshaw, J. Ringer
WR: TO, Driver, J. Gage, Crabtree, J. Morgan, K. Curtis, E. Bennett, M. Sims-Walker
TE: Witten, M. Lewis
K: Gostkowski, J. Brown
D/ST: Tenn, NE

The real reason Norwood hasn't gotten much work this year is because he isn't that good in pass protection. With the Falcons line transitioning from zone blocking to power blocking as well as numerous injuries across the line, Petrino needed the best pass blocking RB he had in there as much as possible. Norwood is MUCH more talented then Dunn at this stage in his career and I expect Norwood to get a majority of the carries for the rest of the year and most likely be the undisputed starter next year. Many people are worried about Norwoods durability...so the Falcons may go for a RB in the draft or via FA. But then again, we really wouldn't know how well he would hold up with 20+ carries a game seeing as how he has never gotten a chance in the NFL. With that said, when he was in college at Mississippi State, he held up while getting 20-30 carries a game.
