The problem with security in malls is controlling the entrances. Woodfield Mall (closest to me, largest in Chicago area) has somewhere around 50 different entrances, probably more. I've no idea how many private entrances there are either. Installing metal detectors in all of those would be way too expensive and impossible to enforce. Security personnel would go crazy with all the false alarms going off too.
Basically, I can't imagine what security measures a shopping mall can set up that has a chance to work. Maybe shutting all but a handful of entrances or something, I dunno.
I hadn't heard about this till Omaha brought it up. The whole situation is scary, and also frightening. And the mall being very close to Omaha's home makes it even worst. I'm glad him and his family are all alright. Unfortunately, people lost their lives, because of an idiotic move. Him saying he wanted to be popular or whatever he said is very sad. To think about it, it reminds me of the book, "We need to talk about Kevin" and what the reason of the tragedy was.
Very sad. Crap I was hanging lights all day in the front of the house so this is the first I've heard of this. I'm glad to hear you and yours are OK Omaha and hope no one you know was hurt.
The news was talking about this guy's suicide note and there were so many ridiculous things in there. Got dumped by his girlfriend, fired from his job, didn't want to be a burden to his parents, so he goes and kills 8 other people and himself?? This guy pisses me off.
