here's a question I've asked in person a few times but never around here. If they, or any team, wins out the regular season, but then loses in the playoffs, in my mind that's not an undefeated season. Sure, it's undefeated regular season, but...
I realize I'm splitting hairs, if a team in this day and age goes 16-0 in the season, playoffs and the superbowl should follow suit.
Or, how would a team that went 16-0 regular season BUT then lost in the playoffs fair in the history books? I'm just asking hypothetical questions, not looking to start an argument. Just posting the thought.

The '72 Dolphins won it all, so I think if the Pats lost in the playoffs they wouldn't be undefeated in most people's eyes.
I'd like to hear an "official" response on this as well.

it wouldn't be the first time an undefeated team lost to a winless team, altho I don't think it's ever happened this late in the season. Can you just imagine tho the media frenzy if that happened?

It would be, but considering they just gave up 40 to the Jets and 38 to the Bills in back to back week, Miami fans should just hope they come within 50. Personally, with the Pats dropping 34 on the #1 defense, I'd take the Pats and lay the 50.
