One of the worst lists I've ever seen. :-t

The best guitarist IMO is Joe Satriani. Steve Vai is up there IMO and neither are on the list. :-? Joe Satriani taught Steve Vai & the joke at #11 how to play. :-? :-?

Danny Carey is a mad-man...the end of Lateralus is so freaking awesome to see live

forgot to comment about Jack White...not sure he deserves to be rated that hgigh, but i personally dig a lot of his guitar work, even if it is fairly simple stuff...Destijl probably has his best guitar work on it

Hilarious. Kirk from Metallica nearly makes the top ten on one list and barely scratches the top 40 on the other one. :-°

Ha. DigitalDreamDoor. I go there a lot. I still think that list could be better though. I mean, Frusicante at 88 and Adam Jones at 80? Why is Hammet at 35 when he has VERY UNCREATIVE guitar solos (always in pentatonic), Yngwie at 15? He can play, but he has no emotion and he just shreds for the sake of shred sometimes... Also, Brian May is good, but better than Carlos Santana?

Anyway, that is the best list I've seen (that fits my opinions), but how can anyone judge guitar players by skill, sound, innovation, etc.? It will always be a matter of opinion, and as to the Rolling Stone list, those were probably the most INFLUENTIAL guitar players, but no one on Earth will say Cobain is better than Santana... Also, Rolling Stone magazine gave Lil' Wayne's Tha Carter - 3 stars, Tha Carta 2 - 3 1/2, and Tha Carter 3 - 4 1/2 stars and then agreed he was the best rapper alive!!! WTF??? Rolling Stone magazine will stick strictly on a band/artist's side just because they are famous.

Also, guitar/good music FTW.

Rich>Peart>Bonham>Moon>Baker imo. It's kind of hard to judge drummers in different genres though.

Also, Terry Bozzio gives Neil Peart a run for the money. And as for metal drummers, I think Mike Portnoy (Dream Theater), Danny Carey (Tool), and Dave Lombardo (Slayer) are the greatest of the genre, but I'm not too much into metal.

EDIT: Dammit people, if we're going to talk about the GOATs of all music, can't we just change the topic name or make a new thread? I'd like to elaborate on these issues as much as I can but it's hard when we're talking about the GOAT guitar players, drummers, vocalists, etc.
