RUMOR: PETRINO TO ARKANSAS??

Postby Lofunzo » Tue Dec 11, 2007 6:11 pm

I can only find a rumor to this but they are saying that he took the Arkansas job. Can't say that I am surprised. It's been a tough year for him.

Again, I can only find a link to a rumor and not confirmation. I found the link after hearing about it on the radio and searching for it.

ESPN's John Clayton reports that Bobby Petrino has resigned as Falcons coach to take the Arkansas head coaching job.
Rough couple days for Arthur Blank. It's uncertain whether Petrino will coach the rest of the season, but these are certainly his last days in the NFL. Petrino is reportedly taking a significant paycut to leave, which pretty much says it all. Petrino's scheme never really took hold in Atlanta, so it's hard to project much fantasy impact. Rotoworld confirms? via ESPN.

first nick saban leaves....now petrino. the nfl is going to lose faith in college coaches.

This is a worse way to quit than Saban pulled off. Classless.

as a falcons fan i cant say that we will really miss him. i thought he was an a-hole in college and almost died when we hired him. the worst part is that he wouldnt even resign in person. they are saying on the radio down here that he called in his resignation...... less than a day after Blank showered him with praise........

What a chump. I would never play for a quiter and I hope his recruiting takes a hit because of it. What a wuss. Can't even do it in person.

I just lost all the respect i had for this idiot. And I can care less about what happens to the Falcon's. Out clauses should only be able to be used at the end of the year.

Loser move. I know he is thinking "I didn't sign up for this." But the reality is, if you are a rookie head coach, nine times out of ten you are going to a dicey NFL situation. The Vick thing wasn't that big of a surprise. His third contract in 18 months.

Honestly, I think they realize its no joke, their personality doesn't win them games through recruiting like it does in college, and the hours are trash, considering you can get similar money in college with a lot less work.
The opening scene of the movie "Saving Private Ryan" is loosely based on games of dodgeball Brian Dawkins played in second grade.
