Does your wife/girlfriend show interest in your fantasy team

Postby bagobonez » Mon Dec 17, 2007 1:33 am

Just wondering if any of you guys out there have wives or girlfriends that show absolutely no interest in your fantasy team or in your like for football in general. And if that's the case, do you ever wish they did, not because you want them to LIKE football itself, but to show an interest in your hobbies because it's something YOU like?

Most women don't understand football, nonetheless fantasy. It's kinda funny when you try to explain fantasy football to them because they have no idea how your team can actually "play" another team. :-S :-b

My wife couldn't care less about my fantasy teams and only partially listens if I ever talk about them.

My wife certainly does not get into it like I do, but she's played in our buddy league for 3 years now. She missed the playoffs this season, while I'm in the finals, despite having a better record than me (divisions :-° ). She's not letting me forget that for a while... Oh, and the Tiki for Gore trade we made preseason last year... !+)

My fiancee definitely tries to understand what is going on, and asks how my team is doing every week. She also understands that I could win $225 next week in the championship, and she knows what I could do with that money (ahem ... wedding costs ...). ;-D

Thanks for the replies guys, now if you don't mind, answer the second half of the question. Do you ever wish she would show more interest in things that you love, just for your sake? Or are you ok with a "to each his own" mentality and don't really care if she's interested or not?

I think you have to have a degree of "to each his own". There are interests that my wife has that I'm not familiar with and vice versa. I don't expect her to go out of her way to see how my new rotozip works or who I should go for in my minor league draft. She loves fantasy football, but knows nothing about fantasy baseball. It doesn't interest her so I don't expect her to inquire about it. Same thing with her cooking and gardening shows and books and stuff. I don't know a thing about that stuff. Of course, she likes the frequent compliments on these things, but she doesn't expect me to remember what plant she was talking about last week either.

Saw a survey over at Sportsline that says 11% of players are female now. That's 1 in every 9. We've got quite a few females here too. ;-)

My wife played a league last year. Didn't play this year but still understands why I cuss, cheer, scream during the games. :-b
