yep... my dad puts down 1000 page books in about 2 hours and remembers everything... i go a page or 2 a minute... i'm very slow...

it's not like lotr or the hobbit is hard to read. if you can ever get out of the first chapter, you're off to the races. a friend of mine was trying to get into reading lotr, he couldn't finish the first chapter of fellowship. i told him to skip it. he did and finished the book the next day. he had been attempting for weeks.

I had no problem being sucked into the Hobbit, even though it seemed like Tolkien went on and on about Bilbo being flustered about the dwarves intruding on his home, it wasn't hard to keep reading at all.
