I grew up loving that cartoon hobbit version... You mean to tell me it was only a figment of my imagination?

I'm telling you that I am a figment of your imagination. The Cafe is a figment of your imagination. Whatever cartoon you're talking about is also a figment of your imagination.

Seriously. You should talk to someone about that.

I think he's basically saying that the cartoon hobbit was a disgrace to Tolkien's writings, and therefore refuses to acknowledge it's existence. He's in denial. :-b

It's simple: If you're going to make a book into a movie, make it as exactly like the book as possible, that's all. The Harry Potter movies were very good adaptations of the books. The Princess Bride was probably the best book-to-movie adaptation ever, and I love both works.

Where Jackson got in trouble is when he did silly things like neutering TTT by moving the Shelob sequence to ROTK. Not only was it unnecessary, it made TTT the most boring bridge movie ever.

I could go on but I'm the only crazy zealot out here so I'll stop because nobody but me cares. :-b

"Order of the Phoenix" sucked arse compared to the book.

Granted, but that's as much because it wasn't logistically possible to make that book into a movie. You get my point in general thought, right?

Ok, all this talk has made me pick up my LOTR books (again). "Concerning Hobbits..."

:-]

Anybody want to do a weekly "read along" 2-3 chapter discussion thread??
