Need Help Identifying Old Macintosh Game

Postby Dr. Duran Duran » Thu Dec 20, 2007 2:59 am

Ok, I was reminiscing about an old game I used to play on my Mac SE when I was a kid. I'm sure that dates me quite a bit. The game involved owning a company on the island of Hawaii. On the island were five or so other companies that you would try to purchase stock from.

Some of the details of the game included; having to water your plant (an odd detail of the game), purchasing various stocks from your computer to help build your wealth, Aloha Industries was the name of your company if I recall, a safe in your office that you needed five keys to unlock, etc...

I think the whole purpose of the game was to garner enough wealth to buy the five island industries and come into ownership of five keys that would unlock a safe in your office. I never did finish the game after years of playing. Hopefully this sounds a bit familiar to some of you. Maybe you played it when you were a kid! :-D

The only Mac game I've ever played was Oregon Trail. I didn't know anyone who had a Mac back then either, as I only saw them at school. Sorry Doc.

yeah, wasn't a mac person way back then, nor now. I even searched around a bit at work when I read this and had some time to kill. didn't find anything that sounded remotely like it :-C

It's ok if it's all in your head.

I read through this and did some googling this AM but absolutely nothing came up. I think you must be remembering the name wrong or something. If you're sure you've gotten the name right then somehow this game has fallen through the cracks and is actually lost to history.

You could look here and here. Those have a ton of old games.

Though that game I'm looking for wasn't in the links you posted, there were a whole hell of a lot of games I used to play in them. Damn good links there, Knapp! That brought back some great memories! ;-D

sounds like Wall Street Kid which was later adapted to the NES...there's a hilarious review of it floating around the internet somewhere...maybe on Sean Baby :-?

I still prefer those old 2D games to modern games. I guess that means I'm getting old, but it probably also has to do with their ease of play, and my lack of time to dedicate to playing.

I have Dungeons of Doom on my Mac at home and still play it once in a while. It's a decent game and not too time-consuming.

Any games off this list?

Those were from one of the links that knapp had, but it's their 'simulation' section.

stupid leopard doesn't support classic apps anymore. What a uber disappointment. I was hoping to play some sim city, doom, and marathon :( why oh why did I upgrade?
