Hey Treat,

I saw this post yesterday but couldn't reply at the time. I'd come to the Cafe GT forum looking for some levity to take my mind off the fact someone hit the back end of my new car on Christmas. Your post gave me the proper perspective about it and I spent the rest of my visit enjoying my holiday time in Chicago even moreso than I already would have and not lingering angry about my car. Thanks for the assist, man. ;-D

I'm very sorry for your loss and that of your whole family. And to echo other's sentiments, it is fantastic and wonderful that your family came together as it did to embrace the season of happiness in this time of loss.

You're a real pleasure to know, Treat (even if only via the internet). I think it is a fantastic idea for you and the Better Half to host family gatherings in the future. Reading what you've posted makes me want to be part of your family, too. :-)

Take care Scott,
Scott

Hey Treat

Sorry about your grandmother but I was glad to hear that you and your family ended up enjoying time together and that some total strangers helped you out. So often we are worried about ourselves around the holidays, this didn't go how I planned, doing this or that screwed up our schedule, I hope I don't have to talk to so and so when they come over, etc. We should just be happy that people are alive and we have the opportunity to spend time with them.

Sometime last week my older son (he's 3) threw up all day. No one else got sick. We thought perhaps he had food poisoning. Today same thing. No one else is sick. Both times he has had no fever. My wife took him for blood work tonight. We are concerned but hope there is just something we are missing. We can't figure out anything different that he is eating from what we are. Not sure what this is about.

Nothing fun about that Azrael. Your son will definitely be in our prayers and I hope to hear some good news soon.

Maybe he's pregnant?

Just thought I'd lighten it up a bit. :-b

I wouldn't get too worried yet. I googled "vomiting symptom child" and almost everything I read wasn't serious or life threatening. I'm sure it's scary, but imagining the worst won't do anybody any good. Just hang in there. ;-D

Sorry about your grandma, Treat. Between my wife and I, we've lost all 4 of our grandfathers.

Also sorry to hear about your Dad, dolfin. My Dad is 62 years old and is a smoker. He's also a meat and potato guy and refuses to take his blood pressure/cholesterol medication because they make him feel bad. I told him that it was probably the cholesterol medicine (statin) that's making him feel bad and that he and his docotr should try something else until they find a combo that works, but he doesn't seem to care. I keep waiting for a bomb to drop as far as his health is concerned. :-/

My Mom had her gall bladder removed right before Christmas. Usually it's an outpatient surgery, but my Mom was in for 3 days and two nights because she had to have a second procedure to remove an obstructed gallstone from a bile duct. The symptoms are very similar to a heart attack, so the whole thing was pretty scary. She's ok now, though. ;-D

Such is life.

definitely, I haven't had to deal with something like that so I don't know how it feels Treat, but atleast you were able to make the best of your evening.

In case anyone was wondering, my son is feeling much better today. He did catch a fever later on in the evening but wasn't anything serious. The hospital said the blood work did not turn up anything unusual. Just hope this isn't a recurring thing. Thanks for your prayers.

That's great news Azrael. I'm sure he'll be tearing around the house again soon enough. :-D
