Detroit guy here and I'll be the first to say good riddance to MM. He's got to much of an ego and doesn't handle being someone who is controlled. Just ask Marinelli. At times you couldn't tell who was making the personal decisions; Rod or Martz?

Will the offense be better? Sure. He turned Furrey and McDonald into fantasy options. Did he kill KJ? Sure did.

Detroit didn't have a TE anyway. Not sure how Martz will incorporate Vernon. Should be better with more passes. I do worry about Gore. There was at least 3 games where the Lions ran less than 10 times as a team. Then again, thats how Martz runs his game plans.

Of course, everyone could bash the terrible Lions players. They are pathetic most of the time. But they proved they could run the ball pretty effective this season. Martz just wouldn't give them the chance.

Good luck 49ers with the new dual coaching situation!

I was going to say the same thing.

I agree with suhgamer. Just looks at the points and stats Roy, Calvin and KJ(any Det RB) put up. Sure he made names of McDonald and Furrey...he did the same with Az-Hakim in STL, but what about the big guys? The number 1 and 2 options. :-?

Rotoworld's take on how Martz's arrival in will help out Ashley Lelie, Arnaz Battle, and Gore's fantasy values.
New offensive coordinator Mike Martz says he plans to build the 49ers' game plan around Frank Gore.

Martz isn't known for his dedication to the run game, but Gore is the best player he has to work with. He says Gore will be the offensive centerpiece, so look for a lot of receptions. Martz also believes that the 49ers are very close to having a successful attack. On the outside, Ashley Lelie could fit into a Martz scheme that values speed. Arnaz Battle could hope for a Mike Furrey-like role in the slot. Jan. 8 - 9:56 pm et

You must be joking. Bruce will retire a Ram. Going to the Niners would be like Favre playing out his final season in Minnesota.

Not that I wouldn't agree with Bruce not going to the Niners, but...

(Rotoworld) The Belleville News-Democrat believes Isaac Bruce would be welcomed "with open arms" in San Francisco if he's cut by the Rams this offseason.
Impact: The Rams are not expected to pay Bruce his $2 million roster bonus due on March 1, and with Mike Martz coordinating an offense that needs receivers, Rev. Ike will have an immediate suitor. Bruce struggled with drops at times in 2007 and turns 36 next season, but could start for the Niners right away.

Or maybe like Rice playing for Oakland....or Cris Carter playing in Miami....or Montana in KC ;-7

Actually, none of those fit the analogy I used.

The only recent guy I can think that would fit your anlaogy is D. Sanders from SF to Dallas.

Sanders played for the Niners for one year. Bruce has been a Ram his entire 14-year career. I don't see him trading in his uniform for that of his lifelong rival's just to play one more year. I could be wrong.
