Mike Alstott will officially announce his retirement from football, in a press conference that WDAE will air live Thursday morning from One Buc Place.
The press conference is scheduled to begin at 10 a.m.
Meanwhile another injured Buc running back, but one who is hoped to have many more years of action ahead, is the subject of an alarming story on website profootballtalk.com. On Tuesday night the site said a rumor going around Seniort Bowl circles in is that Cadillac Williams' career may be over due to the knee injury he suffered early this season.
Alstott was a guest recently with Ron Diaz and Ian Beckles live on WDAE and though he did not use the word "retire" Alstott made it sound like his football playing days are over.
He said "read between the lines" when it came to his thoughts on calling it a career. Alstott missed all of last season with a neck injury and said it "wouldn't be worth it" to risk putting himself though any more pain.
He said his neck will be fine in the future "as long as I don't run into guys that are over 300 pounds."
One of the best Bucs. I am glad he is leaving with his health, but he will be missed. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=U1q1gQc4_Oo
