Aqua, you're confusing disagreement for lack of understanding. Jumping to the conclusion that because people see things differently than you means they are naive doesn't paint your argument in a very favorable light.
And I could go on and on about the 1997 season, how Nebraska was the better team and how the Big 10 screwed Michigan by not getting on board with the BCS, but instead I'll take the time I would have spent discussing it and head over to the stadium and take another look at our national championship trophy.
Masoli has plead guilty to the burglary charge, he has to be gone. James is another story, I can see him getting a year suspension, but he deserves half a season at most. After reading the documents presented by the DA, this sounds more like a domestic dispute between two people where both should be to blame. He didn't assault anyone, and he didn't choke anyone. Still he has to see some suspension time simply for his part in the altercation. He should get 4 to 6 games, but it wouldn't surprise me if Kelly sits him for the season.

I agree.
I just talked to Masoli's Uncle who was in the courtroom. Misdemeanor burglary, $5000 restitution to the frat, one year probation, and 140 hours of community service to be paid within 8 months.
Methinks he's gone, but I think Chip is supposed to speak on it... NOW.
Yo, Met... thanks for the sig! GO DUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I just don't see how Masoli isn't done at Oregon. I guess I could see Kelly not booting him off the team and just giving him a year suspension, which would still end his football career at Oregon.
For some reason I thought Masoli had already red-shirted. Either way his career as a starter at Oregon is probably over. Senior Nate Costa will most likely take the reigns this season and hand the keys over to Thomas in 2011, unless Thomas takes the job earlier. Masoli will be a backup at best when/if he does come back.
Not surprised at the length of suspension for James, I thought it might be a little longer but I'm not surprised it was only a game. Again after reading the DA's assessment of what happened, it's clear there was no assault that took place. It was a lovers spat where both parties were way out of line. Had James been smart about it and called the police himself after his girlfriend tore his necklace off and stole his keys, it would have been her who went to jail. Sadly he took matters into his own hands to retrieve his possessions....bad move.
